1. Data Controller

2. No tracking cookies

ViaFerrata.tech does not use any advertising or tracking cookies. No third-party tools such as Google Analytics are used. You therefore have no consent banner to manage.

The only cookies present are strictly technical and necessary for the website to function : they maintain your login session when authenticated. They contain no personal data for marketing purposes.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

To understand site usage and improve it, we use an in-house counter hosted on our own servers in Europe. For each page viewed, we record :

The page visited, the displayed language, the approximate country, the device type (desktop, mobile, tablet) and the traffic source if applicable (e.g. referring website).

Your IP address is never stored. Instead, we generate an anonymous identifier from your IP, your browser, a secret salt and the day's date. This identifier automatically changes every day, making it impossible to track a visitor across multiple days or trace back to your identity.

4. User accounts and comments

When creating an account, we collect your username, email address and password (encrypted). This data is necessary for authentication and to display your comments and favourites.

Published comments are linked to your username and retained as long as your account is active. If an account is deleted, comments remain visible but are anonymised ("Account deleted"). Favourites are deleted with the account.

5. Contact form

Your message and email (if provided) are received by email and are not stored on third-party servers. They are retained until your request is fully processed.

6. Donations (Twint and Stripe)

Donations to AVFS can be made via Twint or Stripe. Both platforms process payments directly under their own privacy policies. ViaFerrata.tech does not store any banking or card data.

7. Geolocation

Geolocation : upon explicit request (click on the location button), your GPS position is used to center the map on your location. This data is never transmitted to or stored on our servers and remains only in your browser for the duration of the session.

8. Legal basis and retention

Processing is based on your consent and AVFS's legitimate interest in operating and improving the website. Anonymous statistics are retained indefinitely (no personal data can be reconstructed). Contact messages are retained until processed and manually deleted. Account data is retained as long as the account exists.

9. Your rights

Under Swiss nFADP and European GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify and delete your data. Contact: contact@viaferrata.tech

Note : as usage statistics are fully anonymous, they cannot be viewed or deleted individually.

10. Hosting

This website is hosted by Hostinger (hostinger.com) on European servers.

11. Changes

This policy may be modified at any time. The date of the last update is indicated at the top of this page.
